Universal Energy to build two wind power plants in Uzbekistan

President Mirziyoyev has approved an agreement for the construction of two wind power plants in Samarkand and Djizak regions with a total installed capacity of 500 MW, according to a news report by Uzbek local media, published on Lex.uz.

On January 25, 2024, during President Mirziyoyev's official visit to China, Uzbekistan signed an investment agreement for a 500MW wind power project with Chinese company Universal Energy.

According to the agreement, the government of Uzbekistan will provide tax, land and financing support for the investment and construction of the wind power project, and promote the project in cooperation with various departments in Uzbekistan.

According to the plan, Universal Energy will build two wind power plants in Uzbekistan, each with a total installed capacity of 250 MW, and the project is expected to have a total investment of $500 million.

According to previous reports, on October 16, 2023, on the eve of the Third "Belt and Road" International Cooperation Summit Forum, HuanTai Energy and Uzbekistan successfully signed a power purchase agreement for a 500MW wind power project. According to the agreement, the two sides will be billed in RMB.
