Universal Energy wins 100MW wind power project in Kazakhstan

In the renewable energy project auction held in Kazakhstan in November 2024, Universal Energy successfully won the bidding of 100MW wind power project. Up to now, Universal Energy’s capacity of renewable energy projects in Kazakhstan has nearly been 1GW.

The renewable energy project auction was organized by the Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan, and three wind power project bids were released for online auction. Universal Energy won the bidding for one wind power project with a total capacity of 100MW, located in Kostanay region of Kazakhstan.

Kostanay region is located in the northern part of Kazakhstan. After winning the bid, Universal Energy's capacity of wind power projects in the region reaches 250MW, of which the 100MW wind power project is newly won, Ybyrai 50MW wind power project was connected to the grid in February 2022, and Mars Wind 50MW wind power project & Jupiter Wind 50MW wind power project have already been under construction.

In addition, in June this year, Universal Energy successfully won the bidding of 89.999MW wind power project in Semipalatinsk, Kazakhstan. This project set the lowest bidding price for Universal Energy in Kazakhstan's renewable energy auction, which further reduced the cost of electricity for local residents.

Now Universal Energy has 16 renewable energy projects connected to the grid, constructed and to be constructed in Kazakhstan, with a total capacity of nearly 1GW. The company has become the largest and most competitive clean energy supplier in Central Asia.
