Nan Yi Holds Talks with Azerbaijan's Energy Minister

On December 3, Nan Yi, Chairman and President of Universal Energy, held talks with Azerbaijan’s Minister of Energy, Parviz Shahbazov. The two sides exchanged views on the progress of the 100MW solar power project in Azerbaijan.

Nan Yi introduced the planning and advancement of the project, stating that Universal Energy would adhere to high standards and quality principles to ensure the project’s construction and operation, providing Azerbaijan with stable and clean electricity supply.

Parviz Shahbazov expressed satisfaction with the project’s progress. He noted that the project would significantly promote Azerbaijan’s green energy transition, injecting new momentum into local economic development and environmental protection.

The two sides also engaged in in-depth discussions on further expanding cooperation methods and the application of long-duration energy storage technologies, laying the foundation for the project’s long-term stable output.

Earlier that day, Yu Hongchi, Counsellor of the Chinese Embassy in Azerbaijan, and Javid Abdullayev, Head of the Renewable Energy Department at Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Energy, visited the project site.

As Azerbaijan’s first renewable energy project established through an open bidding process, Universal Energy successfully won the bid during the 29th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP29) in 2024, competing against eight leading global new energy enterprises. The project is scheduled to be connected to the grid and operational by mid-2026. Upon completion, it is expected to generate approximately 180 million kWh of electricity annually, equivalent to reducing local carbon emissions by about 146,520 tons per year.
