Uzbekistan President Meets with Nan Yi

On December 5th, Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev held talks with several Chinese entrepreneurs in Tashkent. Nan Yi, Chairman and President of Universal Energy, attended the meeting as the sole representative of a private enterprise.

During the talks, both sides discussed the progress of the ongoing construction of a 500MW wind power project in Uzbekistan.

Nan Yi stated that Universal Energy would actively accelerate the project's construction pace, striving to ensure the early completion and commissioning of the wind power project to promote the green energy transition in Uzbekistan.

President Mirziyoyev emphasized that Uzbekistan places great importance on developing clean energy and will support Chinese companies in participating in the country’s renewable energy projects, contributing to Uzbekistan’s sustainable development goals.

In Samarkand, Uzbekistan, Universal Energy is investing in the construction of a 500MW wind power project. The project consists of two wind power plants—Peak Wind Alpha (250MW) and Peak Wind Beta (250MW). It is the first project in the region to adopt RMB-denominated electricity pricing and the largest mountainous wind power project locally. The first phase of the project is scheduled to be grid-connected by the end of 2026. Once fully operational, the project is expected to generate 1.75 billion kWh of electricity annually, reducing carbon emissions by 1.75 million tons per year for the region.
