In August 2026, Universal Energy's 100MW solar power project in Azerbaijan successfully secured a medium- and long-term export buyer's credit insurance policy from Sinosure. This project also marks the first time Sinosure has underwritten a renewable energy export buyer's credit project in Azerbaijan. Below is the information published by Sinosure's official WeChat account:
In August 2026, Sinosure issued a medium- and long-term export buyer's credit insurance policy for the 100MW solar power project in Azerbaijan undertaken by Universal Energy. In partnership with Bank of China and Bank of Communications, Sinosure adopted a non-recourse project financing structure, providing over 12 years of long-term financing support for the project. The project is the first publicly tendered renewable power project in Azerbaijan, and also the first renewable energy export buyer's credit project in Azerbaijan underwritten by Sinosure.
At the 29th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP29) in November 2024, Universal Energy won the bid for this project. Upon completion, the project is expected to generate 180 million kWh of electricity annually, reducing carbon emissions by approximately 146,500 tons per year, playing a positive role in supporting Azerbaijan's green energy development strategy. Sinosure actively responded to Universal Energy's project advancement needs, tailoring project financing solutions to facilitate the successful implementation of the project.
