The Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan announced on October 26 that Uzbekistan's Minister of Energy Sherzod Khodjaev recently visited the site of a 500MW wind power project invested by Universal Energy in Uzbekistan.

In Bulungur District of Samarkand Region, Khodjaev learned in detail about the project's construction progress and preparations for commissioning. The project has a total installed capacity of 500MW and consists of two wind power stations, Peak Wind Alpha 250MW and Peak Wind Beta 250MW, with a total investment of approximately US$500 million. It is the first local project to adopt RMB-denominated electricity tariffs and is also the country's largest mountain wind power project. The project is currently carrying out wind turbine hoisting and electrical installation work. Phase I is scheduled to be completed before the end of 2026, and the entire station is planned to be put into operation in 2027.
After the project is fully commissioned, its annual power generation is expected to be approximately 1.75 billion kWh, which, according to project estimates, can meet the electricity demand of about 730,000 households. Once the wind farm is in operation, it is expected to save approximately 467 million cubic meters of natural gas annually and reduce emissions of harmful substances by more than 1 million tons. The completion of the project will effectively increase the share of renewable energy in Uzbekistan's energy system and enhance the stability of power supply.
