250 MW!Universal Energy wins bids for four wind power projects in Kazakhstan

Recently, relying on the advantage in cost-per-kWh and good reputation in the international market, Universal Energy has successively won bids for four wind power projects in Kazakhstan, with a total capacity of 250MW. Among these 4 wind power projects, Universal Energy's lowest winning bid price was 12.39 KZT/kWh (about 2.6 US dollar cents/kWh). It is setting a new record for the lowest winning bid price of similar projects in Kazakhstan in the past five years.

In this Kazakhstan wind power project bidding, 7 tenders with a total capacity of 400MW were released for online bidding. Each project has more than 10 companies participating in the bidding. In addition to local companies, it is known that companies from China, Russia, and Europe have also participated in the competition. In the end, Universal Energy won the bid for 4 wind power projects with a total installed capacity of 250MW, of which 3 projects are in northern Kazakhstan and 1 project is in the west.

It is noteworthy that among all the project tenders released this time, nearly 60% of the projects were taken by Universal Energy. Beyond that, the lowest winning bid price of Universal Energy has reached 12.39 KZT (about 2.6 US dollar cents/kWh), which is the lowest bidding price in Kazakhstan since the launch of the renewable energy bidding policy in the past five years.

After this tender, the number of renewable energy projects invested by Universal Energy in Kazakhstan will expand to 10, with a total install capacity of 630MW. Among them, 6 projects with a total capacity of 380MW have all been put into commercial operation. The annual power generation can supply green electricity for more than 600,000 local households, reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 1 million tons per year.
